RICOH Group in favour of the protection of natural resources

The RICOH Group's active and concrete approach to the protection of natural resources, with the creation of the Office for the Promotion of the Environment since 1976, is one of the best examples of its exemplary contribution to the preservation of our planet.

RICOH has since then abolished the use of destructive products highly harmful to the ozone layer well before deadline imposed by international bodies. The Group set up the Comet CircleTM in 1994, a concept that allows the remanufacturing of devices, the recycling of parts and supplies or  materials. Moreover, many RICOH products have been awarded with labels for their very low energy consumption. Before developing any new product, RICOH first thinks of preserving the future.

RICOH guarantees that it will maintain and sustain the Comet CircleTM concept that will be applied in the making of the products and on the production sites: safeguard and valuing of resources, mastering of energy resources as well as the prevention of global warming and pollution. All the raw materials used into a device are eco-friendly to facilitate their recovery at the end of their life cycle. Thus, in 2015, Ricoh Industrie France took a significant turn in the development of its activities based on the circular economy through :

  • the remanufacturing of multifunctions devices (European GreenLineTM Center)
  • the European collection and sorting center of used parts and supplies
  • the repairing and recycling of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)
  • the green material recovey activities

and to improve their performance based on the RICOH Comet CircleTM (1994), the economic and social model that respects the environment. The target of this circular economy model is to always remain closer to the user, to valuate the materials, to avoid landfill and to anticipate waste reduction right from the product design stage: eco-design.

The RICOH Circle of Comets, below, is based on the conviction that all parts of the product must be designed and manufactured in such a way that they can be recycled or reused.

The circular economy is more than ever at the heart of Ricoh Industrie France's industrial site development strategies. We contribute to a circular economy by promoting the collection and recycling of used products and the use of recycled resources, but also by reducing the overall environmental impact of life cycles.
