Reducing the environmental impact of our business activities

Preserving resources and developing recycling

To measure and reduce the use of new resources, we apply the 3R approach (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) to our products. This approach also enables us to decrease our water consumption, the amount of waste generated by our activities and the ecological footprint of our products.

Our commitment to protecting the environment goes beyond reducing our own ecological footprint. We are dedicated to using fewer resources, using them efficiently and further improving our environmental performance.

We contribute to the development of a circular economy not only by promoting the collection and remanufacturing of used products and the use of recycled resources, but also by reducing the environmental impact of product life cycles on a broader scale. We rely on our own circular economy model, the RICOH Comet CircleTM, initiated in 1994. The objective of this circular economy model is always to stay as close as possible to the user, to recover materials, to avoid landfilling waste and to anticipate reduction from the product design stagethrougheco-design

Avoiding, reducing and offsetting environmental impacts

At RICOH, ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) objectives are at the heart of the way we work. We take a range of initiatives to minimise our impact on the environment and ensure that our activities are sustainable, from minimising resource and energy consumption to sourcing from responsible suppliers.

RICOH was the first Japanese company to join the RE100 group, a collective global initiative of over 100 of the world's most influential companies committed to 100% renewable electricity.

To reduce the environmental impact of our own core businesses and help our business partners to do the same, we have set new global environmental targets for 2040 and 2050 in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.
