Ricoh Industrie France takes action towards the RE100 renewable energy goals

16/05/2018

Last year Ricoh was proud to become the first Japanese company to join the RE100 - a collaborative group made up of the world’s most influential businesses committed to using 100% renewable power. By joining the RE100, Ricoh has committed to using a minimum of 30% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% by 2050.

Since 1st April 2018, Ricoh Industrie France (RIF) has succeeded in powering its ‘3R’ resource conservation and recycling process with electricity from 100% renewable energy sources. This includes the recycling of used MFPs (GreenLine brand), toner cartridges and more. Taking the initiative, RIF discussed new terms with its electricity provider to find a solution with a higher source of renewable energy. This project covers 21% of the total RIF’s electricity consumption - a great achievement!

RIF’s efforts to improve sustainability are not just centered on buying green energy externally. The company has also looked at its own processes to see how they can make improvements. Over the past 5 years, RIF has managed to cut its CO2 emissions by 29%. This represents more than 3,000 tons of savings of CO2 emissions.
Throughout Ricoh we are working hard to create a zero carbon society across our entire value chain and today Ricoh Industrie France strongly contributes towards this common goal to build a more sustainable world.
